It is with great sadness we inform the passing away of the Trustee of Lanka Sishyadhara Society Limited, Mr. M. Jayathissa Fernando on 12th June 2011 at the age of 79 years. He is a scholar of the society and a long-standing member of the council including the Secretary. He has allowed his house to be used as the office of the Society at # 29, Hudson Road, Colombo 3, Sri Lanka (telephone: +94 11 234 83 89). Cortege leaves residence @ 4.00 p.m. on 13th June for cremation at Kanatte at 4.30 p.m.
The Popular movie producer and director Thimathi Weeraratne passed away at a private hospital in Panadura yesterday. The 74-year-old veteran cinematographer was the father of the popular actress Sangeetha Weeraratne. He had produced films such as ‘Me Desa Kumatada’, ‘Wana Bambara’ and ‘Sangeetha.’ Mr. Weeraratne was also the owner of Thimathi Photographic Studios. His body remains at the residence, No 9, De Silva Mawatha, Panadura. ...

The chief Adikarana sanghanayake of Gampaha Division, Ven.Dr.Uyanwatta Ganaloka thera (61) has passed away. He was the chief incumbent of Sri Ganawimalaramaya wewalduwa Kalaniya. His funerals took place at kalaniya Wewalduwa Dingeriwatta play ground on November 30th evening.
